Supply Chain Management

What does SCM actually mean? There are innumerable and to some extent very different views on this.

Personally, I can easily agree to the definition of the "Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)

Supply chain management encompasses the planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all logistics management activities. Importantly, it also includes coordination and collaboration with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third party service providers, and customers. In essence, supply chain management integrates supply and demand management within and across companies.

How I can help you

In this spirit, I would like to help you building an efficient supply chain based on mutual respect and success.
This includes close coordination of internal processes between design, material planning, purchasing, incoming goods & warehouse, quality & production, as well as the right choice of suppliers and the corresponding drafting of contracts.

My work approach

In the first step, we jointly prepare a detailed as-is analysis.

Which products are purchased?
what does the market look like for them (possibly also internationally)?
How many suppliers are currently used?
do framework agreements already exist?
how is the material requirement determined?

We also look at production:
what core competencies are available?
What is the current make or buy strategy?
Are alternative suppliers available for all core processes?
how is production controlled?
Where are bottlenecks?

Furthermore we are reviewing other relevant aspects:

what quality requirements are specified for the finished product?
how does communication between the departments take place?
Is there a process to coordinate sales plan, procurement and production capacity (Sales & Operation Planning)?
Which KPIs are important for the company, and also for each department?

based on this analysis, we work closely together to identify the potential for improvement.

Together we then develop an action plan, which should be implemented by your own employees, with my support.
